Visit at the Stipoc Monastery (Saint Atanasie Skete) – monastery which follows the old rite

Visit at the Stipoc Monastery (Saint Atanasie Skete), monastery which follows the old rite and is situated on Stipoc hill, near Chilia; afterwards we will take a walk on the streets of the piscatorial village Mila 23, where old man Vanea will tell us stories and will talk to us about the traditions of the Russian-lipovans.

At the entrance of the monastery, the Reverend Father planted hundreds of flowers, that seem to be moving when someone passes near them. The fountain that is situated in the yard, which is built against the heat, helps you refresh yourself if you drink its cold and clear water;

This places is like a little paradise in the middle of nowhere, it is like a oasis where you can recharge your batteries after a canicular summer day.

The next stop is in the Mila 23 locality, a piscatorial traditional village, where the majority of locals are Russian-lipovans.

We will discover the traditions and culture of the lipovans living in the piscatorial village Mila 23. Our first stop will be at a traditional household, where the host, a true lipovan will invite us to serve a glass of wine after presenting us his fishing equipment, his household and his lipovan sauna. While eating some PIROSTE SI SCOVERGI, which are some traditional pies, we can listen to him telling us about the traditions of the place, but also about the values and principles of the lipovans who live here. We cannot leave from Mila 23 without visiting the artistic ensemble of the local Russian lipovans, who will sing to us , impressing us with the traditional music.
