The Murighiol locality is situated between the eastern shore of the Razim Lake and the right shore of the Sf. Gheorghe branch. At Murighiol you can find the ancient ruins of the greek, roman and later byzantine fortress Halmyris (I-VII centuries c.e), former harbor at the Sf. Gheorghe branch, surrounded by a massive defensive wall, with towers, gates and roman bath complexes.
